Disney Did it Again

Just a few minutes ago, I was watching a beyond-cheesy Disney Channel movie with my mom and sister. It's called Starstruck. 'Nuff said.

However, there was one line (not ver batem) that this old grandma said to her granddaughter that I needed to hear. Today's been kinda cruddy and I need all the pick-me-ups I can get (even if it is good ol' Walt Disney-esque):

"Nothing is what it seems in the moment. Life has a way of working itself out."

You go, grandma!!

Chastity Sunday

I guess BYU wards have a chastity lesson on each fifth Sunday for Elders' Quorum and Relief Society and they call it "Chastity Sunday." We kinda had a knock-off of that today in my singles ward.

One of the counselors in my bishopric taught the combined EQ and RS about dating, a.k.a. "heeere we go again!"

We all know that the brethren are responsible for dating, but apparently the girls have to flirt if they want to be asked out. Psh. Really? Is our beauty not enough? The teacher categorized these girls as the "flirters" and the "flirt haters." According to him, flirt haters hate the flirters because they are--well--successful and date and get married and stuff.

Flirters must do the following to secure an ask-out:
  • Stand close to the guy.
  • Smell good.
  • Smile.
  • Touch (preferably forearm).
Result? A proposal!! Just kidding. But maybe a date, which will lead to friendship, which will lead to more-than-friendship, which will lead to love, which will lead to that proposal, which will lead to the M word!

Actually, today's lesson was probably the best one I've ever had on dating. He used creative analogies (egg baskets and card-playing).

Now I just gotta find a guy who I even want to stand close enough to in order to attempt a flirt session. That's a challenge and a half.

Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?

Excellent question, Ashley.

A lot of American girls are suckers for foreign guys with accents. Me? Yeah, it's cool that your voice sounds different and all, but I'd rather go for a home-grown boy. BUT! For some odd reason, I've received not one, but TWO Facebook messages from foreign guys asking for my Facebook friendship. How they found me? No clue. But it is 2010 and Facebook, so it's not that weird I guess. But still, two foreign guys sending me messages in the last few days? A bit unusual. So for your viewing pleasure, I'm including their very-broken-English messages.

This one is from Murat from Turkey!

türkey name ..murat bakırcı friend tobe to want you objection if not

And this one from who I am assuming is African. His name is Nana:

hello Ashley how are u doing today i hope u are u doing good and am member of the church of lds and am soo happy to be a member of the church and i want to be ur friend u look soo nice and sweet ok.

What should I do? Ignore their messages? Write them back? Pictures of these gentlemen would help make your decision, wouldn't they? But if they find this blog (which wouldn't be far-fetched), I don't want them to be entirely embarrassed.

Can't I just get a nice American boy?

I May Just Post the Heck Out of This Blog

So I hope you don't mind. Just some things to get down:

I'm tired. My days wear me out. I'm so happy it's Friday evening.

Tomorrow's to-do-list (in no particular order):
1. Visit with grandpa.
2. Work out.
3. Grade papers.
4. Take a nap?
5. Socialize?

Numbers one through three are priority. Four and five would be nice, but might not happen.

Alcohol and Shopping Carts Don't Mix Well

viernes

Is anyone else super stoked that it's Friday today? I know we should make the most of everyday and stuff, but there's nothing like a weekend when your weeks are busy and hectic and start out early and end late.

HAPPY FRIDAY, FOLKS!

Bienvenidos!

Welcome to my new blog!! If you wanna read my other blog, which I recently made private, give me your email address and we'll make it happen. That one will contain more personal posts, if I even feel like updating it. Otherwise, this will be the place to come to for anything and everything that I feel like posting.

So, what shall tonight's post be about? How about you tell me. What do you like to see when you visit others' blogs? If no one responds to this post, then I'll for sure know that no one really cares, or that they trust me to entertain. But, really, tell me what you wanna see. Everyone likes pictures and videos, right? Music as well? In that case, here's a new Katy Perry song that I heard this morning that I like. It's called "Firework." BOOM! BOOM!
