Snow and Coco

It's snowing cats and dogs and other domesticated animals here. Sure, I'm ready for spring and want to see the sun, but if this snow means that work could be delayed or even cancelled tomorrow, I'm all for it. But even if I do go to work tomorrow, I'm so stoked that it'll be Friday when I do!

Yeah, I'm kinda embarrassed to be giving Rebecca Black all this publicity on my blog (this will be the third post in a row that I mention her), but this Conan video is too funny not to share.

I posted a viral video on my Facebook wall, and it's created quite a commotion:

I guess that's not too good of a picture, because there are like 11 more comments that you can't see. Now, what's all the hype? Let me show you. Well, let me show you again. Because if you haven't seen it already, I'm sorry to tell you that you're kinda living under a rock. But then again, rocks aren't too bad when you consider the cheese that is this song.



Yeah, the lyrics are kinda mortifying. I wasn't sure if this was real or a joke. Like, who would really sing those words? Well, Rebecca would, and she's probably bankin', so I can't hate. And don't hate on me, because I have a slight confession: I actually sorta like the song. It's catchy, it's fun, and it's clean! Sure, the lyrics can go, but they're kinda what adds to its quirkiness.

Nothing is Original

Sometimes I think I'm original. But originality has to stem from somewhere, and so, to justify my reasoning, I turn to this lovely quote. It's one of my favorites.



Okay, now that that's out of the way, let me share with you a couple of recent finds. This isn't my work, and I don't take credit for any of it, but now I'm sharing it with you, and that gives me some form of credibility. So hand it to me, won't ya?

The first is an excellent article on the LDS church's quick response and networking in Japan following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

And the second is an inspiring video about putting the best things first.

And wah-lah! I'm authentic now! ;)


And just FYI, I recently applied for a fitting job in Utah, so if you're feeling generous, I'd much appreciate any prayers you can offer in that regard. It's something I really want, and would bring about other things I greatly desire. Thanks so much.

Good Sunday (and CES Fireside Notes)

Church was so wonderful today!

In sacrament meeting, we heard from two recently converted sisters share their conversion stories, and from a brother who spoke about repentance.

In Sunday School, the teacher taught the lesson about taking Christ's yoke upon us, how Christ's yoke is light and easy, and the burdens of the world are lighter with His help and strength.

And the missionaries actually taught the Relief Society lesson today on yes--missionary work. They did a great job. The member missionary work has blown up in my ward over the last year, but seems to be settling a bit, so this lesson was probably a good boost for us to hear.

Last night and throughout the morning, we got a couple of inches of snow (on the first day of spring, mind you!), and so my sister and I shoveled the driveway and walkway after our meetings. We're hoping this is the last of the snow; we've done our fair share of shoveling this season!

And it dawned on me that I never posted my notes from the March 6 CES fireside given by Elder L. Tom Perry, so I'll post them now!

• There are the basic fundamentals amidst all of the technological changes.
• We need to preserve the noble heritage of the past.
• There is a weakening foundation of the Christian faith in the world.
• Some people say that they're spiritual instead of religious.
• People pick and choose the truths that fit their lifestyle.
• The old faith must become more firm and sure (Helaman 5:12).
• The right way is to believe in Christ. His mission has been prophesied since Adam.
• The answers to the world's most difficult problems are found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
• There are four ways to bring others back to the Christian faith: 1) Daily prayer. Receiving blessings take work on our part. Prayer is work, 2) Daily scripture study. 233 out of the 239 chapters in the Book of Mormon mention the Savior, 3) Temple worthiness, and 4) Daily acts of service.
• We can become the greatest generation to assist our brothers and sisters return to the Christian faith. It will take courage, boldness, and enthusiasm.

I'm so grateful for the Sabbath day. It helps me refocus on the most important. The world is hard, but the gospel trumps the world. I'm so, so grateful.

Not Or Something

Today was so great!

Slept in. Talked to Ben. Went to the temple. Then I talked to Ben. And now I'm talking to Ben again.

I must like Ben or something. No, not or something.

Prayer is Key



God hears and answers prayers! It's true! And you're about the read the most cliche prayer story, but it's original to me, so yeah!

Today I lost something that was very important and necessary to accomplish a particular task. This item actually belongs to someone else, which made it that much more frightening to realize that it was lost. I realized it was lost during my mid-afternoon lunch break, and it weighed on my mind for the remainder of my work day. Hoping that maybe it was found while I was gone, I returned home to ask. My hopes were soon dashed as I learned that it had not been found.

I was really stressed out. My younger sister then had an idea of where it might be. She checked, and to our surprise and sweet relief, it was where she looked! It was a fabulous way to end a long, busy week.

Bottom line: prayer works. Wait--the real bottom line: don't lose things.
